With an Italian mobile plan, EU roaming is already included, so the eSIM pays off outside the EU, starting with Switzerland. With a Swiss or other non-EU plan it's worth it in the EU too. Prices from, VAT included.

Pay securely online. Straight afterwards the QR code appears on the page and is also sent to you by email.

  3. Scan the QR code

Scan the QR code with your phone before you leave and switch the eSIM on when you arrive: you're online as soon as you land.

Before you buy

Does your phone support eSIM?

Your phone also needs to be unlocked, meaning not tied to a network: if you bought it on instalments with a contract, check with your network first.

iPhone

eSIM is available from the iPhone XS / XR (2018) onwards. Open Settings → Mobile Service: if you see «Add eSIM», your phone is ready. The exception is many iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.

Android

Dial *#06# as if making a call: if an «EID» appears among the codes, your phone supports eSIM. You can also search for «eSIM» in Settings (on Samsung: Connections → SIM manager). Many budget models don't have it.

FAQ

Travel eSIM questions

How do I know if my phone supports eSIM?

On iPhone: eSIM is available from the iPhone XS / XR (2018) onwards. Open Settings → Mobile Service: if you see «Add eSIM», your phone is ready. The exception is many iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. On Android: Dial *#06# as if making a call: if an «EID» appears among the codes, your phone supports eSIM. You can also search for «eSIM» in Settings (on Samsung: Connections → SIM manager). Many budget models don't have it. Your phone also needs to be unlocked, meaning not tied to a network: if you bought it on instalments with a contract, check with your network first.

When should I install it and when does it start?

It's best to install it at home a few days before you leave, over Wi‑Fi, and keep it switched off until you arrive. The days in the package usually start counting when your phone first connects to a network in the destination country, not when you buy it. Once you've arrived, switch on the eSIM line and data roaming on it.

Do I keep my number for calls and WhatsApp?

Yes. The travel eSIM is added alongside your SIM, which stays in the phone: you still receive calls and texts on your number and WhatsApp works as usual, because it's tied to your account rather than to the line used for data. Calls and texts on your number are still charged at your network's roaming rates, though: to avoid surprises, keep data roaming switched off on your SIM.

What happens when the data or days run out?

The eSIM's data connection stops and you aren't charged anything extra: there are no automatic renewals. If you need more data you can top up the same eSIM from your order page, without installing anything. Your number and your SIM are left untouched.

Can I make calls or use a hotspot with the eSIM?

Most packages are data only: to make calls you can use WhatsApp, FaceTime or other apps. If a package includes minutes or texts, it says so on its card. You can almost always share the connection (hotspot) with other devices, using the package's data.

Can I use it on another phone or for another trip?

Once installed, the eSIM stays on the phone you downloaded it to and usually can't be moved: so don't delete it until the package has run out. For a later trip to the same destination you can top it up from your order page, as long as you haven't deleted it.
